Über ein ThemaWhat does speaking look like on the German B1 exam?
Speaking at length about a topic is the core of the oral B1 exam. In the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 you give a short presentation on an everyday topic (Sprechen part 2, following five slides) and then answer questions about it; in telc Deutsch B1 you talk about a given topic and about your own experiences, among other tasks.
It is not only what you say that counts, but also how. Develop the topic, give examples and your own opinion, and speak in full, fluent sentences rather than stringing single words together. A short, broken answer scores poorly because it shows neither vocabulary nor fluency.
In this training your answer is graded out of 27 points (pass mark 14/27) in four areas: task completion, grammar, vocabulary and fluency — as on the real exam, aim for a coherent, developed answer.
How the AI-graded training works
Choose a topic — a free monologue, a Goethe presentation with five slides or a telc topic — and simply record your answer; AI turns your speech into text. You can also type it. After sending you immediately see the scored breakdown in four areas, hints on what else you could talk about, and a model answer to compare with.

Frequently asked questions — B1 monologue & presentation
What is the presentation in the Goethe-Zertifikat B1?
In part 2 of the Sprechen module you present an everyday topic for about three minutes, following five slides (introduction, the situation in your home country, pros and cons, your opinion, closing) — then you get feedback and questions. That is exactly the format you can practise here.
How long should I speak?
Ideally in several full, developed sentences: develop the topic, give examples and your own opinion. Short, one-sentence answers score low because they show neither vocabulary nor fluency.
How is the monologue graded in this training?
Your answer is scored out of 27 (pass mark 14/27) in four areas: task completion, grammar, vocabulary and fluency. For each area you get a short comment, plus a model answer.
Can I practise German speaking for free?
Yes, the training is free. Every answer gets an instant, detailed breakdown.
How do I prepare for the speaking part of the B1 exam?
Practise different topics out loud, structure your answer (introduction, examples, opinion, closing) and compare it with the model afterwards. Regular speaking practice with instant AI feedback raises your score the fastest.
