Writing is a module of its own on the German B1 exam. In the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 you have 60 minutes for three tasks: an informal e-mail to friends (about 80 words), a forum post giving your opinion (about 80 words) and a short semi-formal e-mail (about 40 words). In telc Deutsch B1 you write a letter or e-mail covering four guide points (Leitpunkte) in 30 minutes.
It is not only the content that is graded, but also the form. You have to cover every point of the task, keep the salutation, closing and layout of the text type (an e-mail to a friend sounds different from a formal enquiry), use suitable vocabulary and watch your grammar and spelling. A text that is too short, or a forgotten guide point, costs points.
In this training your text is graded out of 15 points in three areas: task completion, range of language (vocabulary and structures) and accuracy — as on the real exam, what counts is a coherent text on topic and in the right form.
How the AI-graded training works
Choose a task — an informal or formal e-mail, a forum post or a telc letter with four guide points — write your text in the box and send it. You immediately get a scored breakdown for task completion, range of language and accuracy, a list of the errors found with corrections, and a model text to compare with.
Each task is a different text type with its own rules — the AI checks your text against the rules of its form. Practising is free.
